Looking to freeze a large ice block for carving. The outside temperatures are enough to freeze the block.
What type of container is best to freeze in? Ideas would be great!
Also how do people get the water so clear?

Freezing a large block of ice | #1 | ||
|
Before I got into professionally freezing blocks of ice with the Clinebell machine I used to take a large grey heavy duty plastic garbage barrel and fill it
and freeze it until it was almost frozen to the center, than I would turn it upside down, allow the ice to slide out, and than either freeze it the rest of the
way or pour out the remaining water in the middle leaving a clear cylindrical block of ice. if you freeze it to the center, it will turn white or might
implode and crack the block. Out of these blocks, I have carved bowls, clam shells, swan fruit holders, snowmen, your imagination is the limit. In these
economically hard times, it is a low cost way to produce a nice ice Sculpture.
